At a Hyposensibilisierung (Specific immunotherapy) the child is given the allergen in increasing doses until the body has become accustomed to the substance and no longer shows symptoms. Hyposensitization usually lasts several years. It is particularly suitable for the treatment of an insect venom allergy (wasp or bee venom). In other allergies, this treatment does not always bring the desired success. Decisive in individual cases, however, always the medical opinion.
Hyposensitization usually occurs by spraying under the skin (subcutaneously). In some cases hyposensitization in children also occurs in sublingual (drops under the tongue) or oral (tablet) form.
